What is a Lash Lift?
Lash Lifts are magic, plain and simple! They are a great option for those who want a more natural, low maintenance lash enhancement. It works with your natural lashes to strategically curl up and separate, giving length and life to the lashes.
At Wild Femme a gentle yet effective treatment is used to alter lash direction and set in place for about 6 weeks. Eyelash tint is included and recommend for all even dark haired clients. Tint can enhance the lift by adding length and shine. A nourishing and conditioning lash mask called lash botox is also included this insures lashes are set up for healthy growth after treatment. First time clients are sent home with essential lash aftercare. Not everyone offers these extra steps in their lifts do your research and ask what steps your provider is taking to insure the health of your lashes during and after treatment.
What is waxing?
Waxing is a technique used to remove unwanted hair from the body. Warm wax is pressed firmly over hair in direction of hair growth. If “Hard” wax is being used, it is then given time to “set” or harden and shrink wrap around hair. It is then removed in the opposite direction of hair growth, removing hair from its root. If “Soft/strip” wax is being used the same process is applied but instead of waiting for wax to set, a muslin or cotton strip is placed on top of wax to remove. Waxing is a popular form of hair removal as is it safe and effective for almost everybody.
What Type of wax do you use?
I use both Hard and soft/strip wax. I have done a ridiculous amount of research and trials to find waxes I truly believe are the best on the market. I mix a combo of two of my favorite hard waxes for a surprisingly comfortable waxing experience. They are gentle while being effective, biodegradable and compostable. At time of appointment, I will take into consideration the overall health of your skin and your hair type, this will determine which type of wax will be used to get the best results. Typically, hard wax is used on more sensitive areas of the body such as the face, underarms and Brazilian area.
How long do results last?
Results typically last between 4-8 weeks. However, this largely fluctuates person to person. Your hormones, certain medication, hair growth cycles, if you wax regularly or not can all play a role. For the best results stay on the waxing schedule recommended for you, follow your pre/post care instructions and trust the process.
Do I have to let my hair grow out?
Yup! I know it’s not always easy but it is a must! I suggest letting your hair grow for at least 4-6 weeks if you’ve been shaving. Hair grows in three cycles. Allowing time for all the cycles of hair to come to the surface and sync up before a wax will result in smoother, longer lasting results with less discomfort.
should I trim?
The short but simple answer is NO!
Now, for the longer version… I know you’re awesome and you think you’re helping me out or maybe you’re embarrassed and for a second you forgot that I’m a professional, and this is part of my job. Either way, I appreciate you and don’t want to have to reschedule your appointment because you got a little overzealous with the trimming and now the hair you worked so hard at growing out is too short to be picked up by the wax. If you must trim try not to go to short. Hair should be about the length of a grain at time of appointment.
Does waxing hurt?
This depends on each individuals pain tolerance, the quality of wax being used, the technique your waxer applies, the body part being waxed, how regularly you get waxed, did you just drink caffeine? Are you on your period or close to starting, did you take ibuprofen or another pain med beforehand? I think the easier question for me to answer is…
What can I do to lessen discomfort?
Hydrate, moisturize, then hydrate and moisturize some more! Drinking plenty of water and moisturizing the area being waxed before your appointment is one of the easiest things you can do to alleviate discomfort. Don’t shave, tweeze, trim or use any chemical hair removers like Nair OR lighteners before your appointment. STOP using chemical exfoliants like retin-A, salicylic, glycolic or lactic acid at least 2 weeks prior to appointment. Basically dry or dehydrated skin can cause unnecessary discomfort. I suggest using a natural moisturizer such as jojoba or shea butter, something unscented that won’t mess with your PH. Try to avoid caffeine a couple hours before your appointment, since caffeine is a stimulant and can sometimes make you more sensitive. Although waxing while on your period is completely acceptable you may be more sensitive during this time and may want to plan accordingly. If you choose to, you can take an ibuprofen or similar pain-reliever at least 30 minutes prior to appointment.
Is getting a Brazilian wax awkward?
Nope! It doesn’t have to be and definitely shouldn’t be! It’s one of my most popular services. Although I like to keep things light and fun, I do take my guest comfort very serious. Please rest assured, I understand the vulnerability you are subjecting yourself to during this service and I respect and honor it. Wild Femme is a safe and judgment free space. I am a woman and a professional. My clients are all different shapes, sizes, ages, race and sexual orientation. I’ve seen it all and waxed it all. The only thing I’m concerned with during a Brazilian wax is making sure you are comfortable while thoroughly removing your unwanted hair.
I’m on my period, can I still get waxed?
Absolutely! We carry on as normal while bleeding all the time, it’s one of the many strengths of being a woman. Why should waxing be any different? All I ask is that you wear a fresh clean tampon or menstrual cup right before your service due to sanitary reasons. Also, you may be more sensitive during this time, other than that it really comes down to personal preference.
I’m Pregnant, can I still get waxed?
Waxing is a pregnant girls best friend! There will come a time when you won’t be able to see or reach what’s going on down there. So don’t worry about it, book a wax! Waxing is safe during all trimesters, although you want to let your provider know early on when it’s not as noticeable so they can avoid using any products that may contain ingredients that should be avoided during pregnancy.
